GERMANY: – Slightly down – The Dax should start Thursday’s session slightly down. Broker IG estimated that the German benchmark index was down 0.2 percent at 18,122 points around two and a half hours before the start of the Xetra. The day before, it had already fallen to 18,045 points, but then stabilized. Currently, the Dax oscillates between its 100-day moving average (17,958 points) and its 50-day line (18,363 points). The technology sector is threatened by the United States. After releasing its quarterly report, Micron Technology fell more than 10% in places. Although the results were convincing, the outlook for the fourth quarter was disappointing. Technology stocks had just stabilized after their recent correction, awaiting a continuation of their race for records.

USA: – NO MOVEMENT – On Wall Street, investors have opted for a wait-and-see attitude after recent price fluctuations. The main indices barely moved on Wednesday. Craig Johnson, an analyst at investment bank Piper Sandler, lamented the narrow market breadth on US stock exchanges. Only a handful of very large-cap stocks determined the direction of the market. This may increase uncertainty about the sustainability of the current stock market rally. The flagship Dow Jones Industrial index rose 0.04% to 39,127.80 points. The predominantly technological Nasdaq 100 rose 0.25% to 19,751.05 points, at least defending its stabilization from the day before. After an annual increase of almost 19%, it reached a high last Thursday at 19,979 points, before profit-taking marked the landscape until Monday.

ASIA: – PENDENCY – Asian stock markets experienced declines, sometimes significant, on Thursday. The Hang-Seng index of the Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong notably fell 2% following bad news from the United States regarding Micron. The CSI 300 index, which includes the 300 main stocks in mainland China, saw a more moderate decline of half a percent. The Japanese Nikkei 225 fell 0.9% shortly before the close. The yen, which has recovered somewhat, has become a concern for investors.
