A year after the death of this young rugby player, killed by a stab wound during a winter ball in Crépol, the ultra-right collective announced the holding of a gathering not authorized by the prefecture, on November 30, in Romans-sur-Isère.
Romans-sur-Isère has become the scene of a face-to-face confrontation. The ultra-right collective “Justice for Ours” opposes Mes Bilel Hakkar and Élise Rey-Jacquot, the lawyers of two of the 14 implicated in the Thomas murder case, in Crépol. Its origin? The announcement by the collective of the holding of a gathering, on November 30 in the town, to pay tribute to the young rugby player killed in a ball in Drôme des Collines, “and for all the victims of immigration”.
This Monday, the councils filed two complaints, denouncing online insults and threats from “Justice for Ours” and its supporters. Last week, the lawyers of the two detainees had already attacked the collective in a complaint, for facts likely to be qualified as “public provocation to discrimination or racial hatred” and for “discriminatory public insult”. They are seeking, through this, to have the gathering banned. Not authorized by the Drôme prefecture, it is the subject of an “special vigilance”she indicated to FigaroNovember 14. It has not yet been banned.
“An invader and a collaborator”
In their complaints, this Monday, Mes Hakkar and Rey-Jacquot, of the Lyon bar, report numerous hateful tweets against them, and warn, through this procedure, of the flammable nature of the upcoming demonstration. “If we had any doubt, we now see who we are dealing with”underlines Me Rey-Jacquot, this Tuesday.
Because they are defending several individuals suspected of Thomas' murder, the councils say they have been targeted by insulting remarks, but also threats, particularly of a racial nature. “An invader and a collaborator”, “a Muslim scum (sic)”, “a community lawyer who will seek above all to preserve his fellow human beings”can we read about them, among the comments of Internet users on X, in response to a tweet from “Justice for ours”. Or again: “High treason. The people’s court will handle this case when the time comes.”
“Thomas had lived 16 years before losing his life, kidnapped by a gang of scum descended from the Cité de la Monnaie in Romans-sur-Isère”indicates the ultra-right collective on the back of the first series of leaflets distributed in Romans and Valence, and which then planned a rally on November 16. That is, two days before the anniversary of the murder of this young player from the Romans-Péage rugby club (RCRP). According to our information, the association of victims of the Crépol ball asked the “Justice for ours” collective to postpone the date of their gathering from November 16 to 30, in order to avoid any political recovery.
