The elected socialist Michèle Victory leaves under the banner of the New Popular Front in the 2e constituency of Ardèche.

“It was the urgency of the situation that pushed me to run, even though I had withdrawn from political life for some time,” explains Michèle Victory.

When the dissolution was announced, I was stunned and devastated by the president’s gamble, which seemed very serious to me. I discussed it with my partner and decided to submit my candidacy to the Socialist Party. It was my name that appeared to be the most unifying to bring together the entire left of northern Ardèche.”

Remaining loyal to the Socialist Party, this teacher, who will retire on 1is September, was particularly involved in the areas of education and culture.

It is she who will carry the program of the New Popular Front on the 2e constituency (north Ardèche) with the Annonean elected official Romain Evrard (Europe ecology the Greens) who is his deputy.

“This is an opportunity to re-unite the left against the National Rally,” rejoices the elected socialist who says she shares this general program “even if there will be points to work on further.”

“We want to mobilize on the social emergency so that the French can make ends meet, but also on health, hospitals, public services. There is also a need to respond to the climate challenge and a commitment to peace in Europe.”

And to finance all this, sources of financing are possible, she believes, by taxing financial products or by recasting the different income tax brackets.

Faced with the rise of the National Rally, she wants to work to change things: “In our countryside, people sometimes have a feeling of abandonment and downgrading. We must find a living democracy to create a society together.”
