Some 25,000 proxies were registered in Toulouse for the first round of the legislative elections on Sunday, June 30. A handful were not transmitted to the polling stations.
Georges wanted to vote for his wife in a polling station in the Saint-Simon district of Toulouse on Sunday, June 30. But when he arrived at the assessor’s office and put his ballot in the ballot box, there was no trace of his name. His wife had, however, validated her proxy, made using an authenticated digital identity, via the France Identité application.

“I had the power of attorney validation document with me, with an official number. But the assessor did not have my wife’s name. It’s incomprehensible. This digital identity is one of the effective ways to carry out a power of attorney, without going to the police station or the gendarmerie,” explains Georges.

Contacted by La Dépêche, the Toulouse city hall indicated that 25,000 proxies were registered for this first round of legislative elections. That is five times more than for the European elections.

“There may have been transmission errors, but they are minor. Often, these are postal delays for registered letters, or people who have done the process online and then forgotten to register it,” argues Sacha Briand, deputy mayor in charge of elections.
