Pro Senectute Jura Arc increases the price of meals delivered to your home by 80 cents. Its customers, the vast majority of whom are elderly people and some recipients of disability pensions, will have to pay 19 francs 80 from Monday. The Foundation announced it this Wednesday at its premises in Delémont. This measure compensates for the reduction in the subsidy from the Canton of Jura of 92,000 francs for the current year. The new price will be effective from July 1 to the end of 2024, in any case. It concerns the Jura clients of the Foundation.
But the increase could have been greater. The use of a fund of 42,000 francs from a bequest from a Jura woman made it possible to avoid a price of 21.60 francs per meal. “The problem is that you can only use it once,” notes the director of Pro Senectute Arc jurassien, François Dubois.
An uncertain sequel
The director of Pro Senectute Arc Jura is worried about the future. According to him, the Canton of Jura plans to reduce subsidies for its home meals service by twice as much next year, or 184,000 francs. A total withdrawal of the service is not completely excluded. “We cannot provide it at a loss because the entire organization would find its financing worse off,” explains François Dubois, emphasizing the importance of this service which represents, for the Foundation’s clients, a meal but also a presence and a little moment of dialogue with the delivery people. »
François Dubois wanted to recall that before these cuts, the cantonal authorities subsidized the Foundation to the tune of 352,000 francs per year. He insisted on the past generosity of Jura and on the fact that Pro Senectute Arc jurassien understands the financial situation of the Canton. /nmy
