The “attack” tax will increase further on July 1, going from 5.90 euros to 6.50 euros per year. Collected from car and home insurance, it is used to finance the Guarantee Fund for Victims of Acts of Terrorism and Other Offenses (FGTI).

. This tax, levied on all car or home insurance contracts, will amount to 6.50 euros per year compared to 5.90 euros currently.
In 2023, this tax brought in 580 million euros. Its increase should make it possible to raise an additional 60 million euros. In 2016, it had already increased from 3.30 euros to 4.30 euros before being increased to 5.90 euros the following year.
A largely deficit fund
The fund set up in 1986 presented a deficit of more than 5 billion euros at the end of 2022. A precarious financial situation in particular due to the expansion of the missions of the FGTI which does not simply compensate victims of attacks. Common law offenses (homicide, rape and sexual assault) also fall within its scope.
