For a little over a year, bisexuals have decided to make noise to celebrate their sexual orientation, which has been invisible for too long. In the second episode of our series, Tim (1), a 36-year-old engineer near Clermont-Ferrand, married with two children, shares the traces left by a long repression.

In the LGBT family, I ask for the letter B… Do you stutter? You are not alone ! Bisexuality, a sexual orientation where it is possible to be attracted to more than one gender, remains largely unknown. Invisibility, it would bring together a million people in France, and would concern half of LGBTQ+ people. On the occasion of Pride Month, around twenty encores and pans spoke to ReleaseDespite the discrimination inflicted by straight people, sometimes even by other queer people, they say they are happy to finally come out of the closet.

“When I was 12-13 years old, I experienced my first emotions. In the underwear section of the supermarket, my eyes were drawn everywhere: on one side, the underwear ads, on the other, the bras. One evening, when I came home from school, my parents were waiting for me in the living room. They found pictures of boys and girls in my room, including sports figures and a still from the movie Spiderman where Tobey Maguire looks in a mirror. They asked me to explain. “Are you gay?” Where I grew up, in suburban or rural areas, the word bisexual did not exist. So I said no. And it was true, I liked girls too.
