The Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville (BHV), one of the major Parisian brands, was closed and evacuated this Tuesday morning following a fire which broke out in a nearby apartment building.

According to the Paris police headquarters (PPP), contacted by 20 Minutes, it was around 8:45 a.m. that the fire broke out in this building on rue du Temple (4th arrondissement), located behind the department store in this district in the heart of the capital.

A security perimeter was established by the police while around ten fire trucks were deployed.

According to the police headquarters, several injuries have already been reported. One person was treated by emergency services in an absolute emergency and another in a relative emergency. In addition, five firefighters from the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP) were injured and placed in relative emergency.

By mid-morning, a plume of smoke was emerging from the first floor of the building and flames were visible on the second floor of the building, which has six floors.

Staff from the main BHV building, located on the sidewalk opposite the damaged building, gathered in a neighboring building and the department store remained closed.
