French tourists missing in Greece: why is the accident hypothesis unlikely according to their relatives?

Marie-Pierre and Françoise, two French women on vacation on the island of Sikinos, in Greece, have mysteriously disappeared since Wednesday June 12 when they went hiking together.

What happened to Françoise and Marie-Pierre, missing on the island of Sikinos in Greece since June 12 after going hiking together? This is obviously the question being asked by the relatives of these two French tourists, aged 73 and 64 respectively, of whom we have not heard from for 12 days now.

While Greece is currently experiencing a violent heatwave, having already caused the death of three foreign tourists who also went hiking, local authorities are leaning towards the theory of an accident. But relatives of the missing have doubts, particularly regarding the call that Françoise allegedly made to the owner of the hotel in which the women were staying, who claims to have received a photo showing one of them lying on the ground, after a fall, but was unable to obtain more details due to the language barrier.

The worry grows

However, Françoise “has always gotten by in English”, affirms his daughter in an article published by our colleagues at Was-MatinFrançoise’s daughter. “The hiking accident seems improbable to us”also confided to the Var daily a close friend of Marie-Pierre who defines her friend as “a seasoned hiker”.

Furthermore, in the last days before her disappearance, Marie-Pierre had informed her loved ones that the high temperatures were preventing her from doing all the activities she wanted: “Every morning she told us that she wasn’t going out because it was too hot; so she was going out in the evening to have a coffee or early in the morning for a coffee.” “Did they have a bad encounter? Did they have an accident? Are they kidnapped?” relatives ask.

Relatives want to go there

As concern grows, and faced with these contradictory elements, the relatives of the missing want to go there.

The family of Varoise Marie-Pierre is awaiting the green light from the French embassy in Greece and the Quai d’Orsay to deploy a dog team on the island of Sikinos. Françoise’s daughter went there last week but found herself faced with a difficult reception and was unable to participate in the research. These are continuing, while the local authorities continue to comb the 40 km of the island’s path, to try to find the trace of the two missing people.
