On display in The fountain of Youth with Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz, the rescue swimmer died at the age of 49 on Sunday June 23 in Hawaii.

In the world of Hawaiian surfing, he had made a reputation for himself. He was a professional rescue swimmer and had played – a small role – in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Fountain of Youth. Tamayo Perry died at the age of 49 on Sunday June 23 after being fatally attacked by a shark on the northeast shore of the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

According to the Anglo-Saxon press, the city’s emergency services went to Mālaekahana beach, shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday, after a witness claimed to have seen a man who appeared to have been bitten by a shark. It was Tamayo Perry. Rescue services brought him back to the beach using a jet ski before pronouncing him dead.

After appearing in several films shot in the archipelago such as Charlie’s Angels: The Angels are unleashed! in 2003 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Fountain of Youth alongside Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz and Geoffrey Rush in 2011, Tamayo Perry began her career as a rescue swimmer with the city of Honolulu in July 2016.

Acting ocean security chief Kurt Lager told a news conference that the 49-year-old was “a rescuer loved by all. He is a professional surfer known all over the world. Tamayo’s personality was contagious.” For his part, the mayor of Honolulu, Rick Blangiardi, also paid tribute to the former actor: “Tamayo was a legendary waterman and he was well respected “, he said, adding that his death represented “a tragic loss.
