Emmanuel Macron returns to his choice of dissolution in a podcast

The Head of State believes that the result of the legislative elections will be “no one’s fault” but an expression of the “responsibility of the French” in a podcast published this Monday, June 24.

“It’s not a bet, it’s a trust.” In an extract from the “Génération do it yourself” podcast broadcast this Monday, June 24, Emmanuel Macron discusses his decision to dissolve the National Assembly and thus call early legislative elections on June 30 and July 7.

The head of state believes that during the European elections, “anger was expressed”. “I heard it, I’ll give you the floor again,” he justifies.

According to him, these new elections to elect a new National Assembly “are not anger, the question is: ‘who governs?’, ‘what do you want?’, he says , inviting voters to “look at the projects”.

“Anger cannot rise behind the scenes, from below,” he adds.

“No one’s fault”

Thus, Emmanuel Macron believes that “on the evening of the second round”, July 7, “it will not be anyone’s fault” but it will be “the responsibility of the French”. “It’s not a bet (that I’m making, Editor’s note), it’s a confidence,” he adds.

In this podcast, the full version of which will be released this Monday at 6 p.m., the Head of State also discusses the incomprehension of his choice to dissolve the Assembly, particularly within his own ranks.

“On June 9 I know what I asked of my ministers, of my majority, of deputies who have sometimes accompanied me for seven years, who have changed their lives to be at my side and I thank them for that, I I said ‘we have to go back’, it’s very hard and I’m aware of it,” he says.

“Many are angry with me, but I did it because there is nothing greater and more just in a democracy than trust in the people,” adds Emmanuel Macron.
