The events occurred on Sunday June 23 shortly after 6 p.m. on vacant land in Harnes, in Pas-de-Calais. One of the two victims, unharmed, fled. The other, seriously injured, was hospitalized at the Lens hospital center.

Firefighters intervened on Sunday June 23, 2024 shortly after 6 p.m. for a traffic accident involving a motocross bike on vacant land.

The events took place behind Chemin de la 2e Voie, in the town of Harnes in Pas-de-Calais. Emergency services treated two people involved, including one unhurt who fled, and one who was seriously injured.

A victim rescue vehicle transported a seriously injured male victim, aged 17, to the Lens hospital center. The police and SMUR were at the scene of the intervention.

According to Fabrice Grunert, deputy mayor of Harnes, who opened the gates for firefighters to rescue the two victims, the events took place behind the media library, on the grounds of a leisure center.

According to him, the victim was unconscious when he was transported to the hospital. A police investigation is underway. Investigators seized the dirt bike.

The deputy mayor explains that the municipality may close the access points, but the use of motocross bikes would not be uncommon in these places.
