As Quebec’s fruit and vegetable season quickly approaches, Quebecers can expect attractive prices, particularly for carrots, especially if they show a little patience.

This is what the agri-food industry specialist at Dalhousie University, Sylvain Charlebois, says in an interview with LCN.

“The harvest is good and prices should be affordable,” he said. “As for carrots, we expect very attractive prices.”

The precipitation received in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes ensured that the harvest was successful for local producers.

“We should have a fruit and vegetable section that will help consumers, especially if they have a tight budget these days due to their mortgage payments,” says Mr. Charlebois. It’s good news.”

In order to save money, he urges consumers to be patient.

“For people who love strawberries, blueberries, carrots, we’re really going to be spoiled,” he says. Be patient a little. When the products arrive on the market, prices are necessarily a little higher at the start of the season.

“If you wait a few days, or even maybe a week, you will see that prices gradually decrease,” he adds. And that’s when it might be time to buy, store, freeze all of this for fall and winter. This is where you will save a lot. Patience pays off”
