The dramatic accident took place this Sunday afternoon on Lake Cazaux in Gironde, not far from the town of Teste-de-Buch. A 12-year-old child was found dead at the bottom of the water. Earlier, the teenager was tubing during a family outing. After a fall, the boat which was pulling him carried out a maneuver to come and rescue him and that is where it then hit the child, indicates the - website.

The child then disappears into the lake, victim of shock. The occupants of the boat quickly alerted the emergency services to the situation and the firefighters set up a large device to try to bring the child up as quickly as possible. Swimmers, a helicopter and several water rescuers were dispatched to the scene to find the teenager.

The search lasted nearly two hours before finding the victim’s lifeless body. His death was finally pronounced by a doctor.

An investigation has been opened to try to find out what really happened. The driver of the boat, who carried out the maneuver, was interviewed by the police and other interviews must be carried out to collect all the testimonies. The question of compliance with safety rules for this practice of boat-towed buoying is particularly raised by investigators.
