Not “standing idly by” after the fires which left a gaping hole in the Montagnette massif in July 2022, this is the reason for the presence of starred chef Glenn Viel, this Saturday, November 16. Between filming for the show “Top chef” on M6, and the kitchens of Oustau de la Baumanière in Baux-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), this committed chef swapped kitchen utensils for a pickaxe, to plant, alongside one another, ash trees, pear trees and other hardwood species on four hectares. As a reminder, in July 2022, around 1,600 hectares of forest went up in smoke in the municipalities of Barbentane, Boulbon and Tarascon, around ten kilometers from Avignon. A first operation called “We rise for the Montagnette” mobilized citizens and big names such as Jean Reno, among others. Everyone’s solidarity made it possible to collect €100,000. Had followed two stages of reforestation test with the Association for the reforestation and protection of Cengle Sainte-Victoire in December 2023 and January 2024.
For the mayor of Barbentane, Jean-Christophe Daudet, the reconstruction of the landscape is becoming concrete.
