Fire in an apartment on Chaussée d’Alsemberg in Uccle: one person seriously injured

The Brussels firefighters intervened in the evening in Uccle.

This Thursday around 6:50 p.m., Brussels firefighters were deployed on Chaussée d’Alsemberg in Uccle, in the Brussels region.

This intervention is linked to a fire in an apartment located on the 5th floor, in a building which has 9 floors. When the emergency services arrived, the stairwell of the building was completely smoked on two floors.

Several people were evacuated using ladders. The resident of the damaged apartment was also evacuated. The injured person was suffering “burns and severe smoke intoxication”according to instructions from the Brussels firefighters. “He was immediately treated by medical teams and transferred to hospital.”

His prognosis is set. Two other residents of the building, slightly intoxicated, were also taken to hospital.

The source of the fire was quickly brought under control. The origin remains to be determined.

The damaged apartment is now uninhabitable.

During the emergency response, tram traffic was interrupted. The Marlow area police had established a security perimeter to facilitate our operations and also greatly contributed to carrying out the evacuation. The intervention is now complete.
