Nanterre: a man hit by a train following an incident with RATP agents

The victim was seriously injured and transported to hospital, but his life prognosis is not in jeopardy, several sources confirmed.

This incident took place around 1:30 p.m. at Université station on RER line A, RATP said in a press release.

“During an intervention by an RATP security team, an individual was unbalanced and struck by a train arriving at the platform, in circumstances which remain to be established,” details the press release.

Ongoing investigation

An investigation into attempted homicide was opened and entrusted to the Ile-de- network brigade (BRF), the Nanterre prosecutor's office told AFP, specifying that police custody was in progress.

RATP CEO Jean Castex has called for an internal investigation to be opened immediately “in collaboration and transparency with the associations representing users who sit on the Board of Directorsn of the RATP”.

Traffic was interrupted for part of the afternoon between La Défense and Nanterre-Ville stations.

The RATP victim assistance unit was also activated.
