Rodrigo Bentancur gets 7 matches and a big fine after his racist remarks

The sanction has fallen for Rodrigo Bentancur who receives a 7-match suspension in the Premier League.

Last June, during an interview with Uruguayan television, the 27-year-old midfielder made quite derogatory remarks towards the South Korean community, saying that all South Koreans “were more or less alike“, referring to Heung-Min Son his club partner. Comments which were taken up by the English Federation despite the former Juventus' apologies to the Spurs star.

This Monday, the Uruguayan midfielder received his sanction after this rather unusual incident. Indeed, Bentancur received a heavy sanction of seven suspension matches in the Premier League. To this sanction must be added a fine of 119,000 euros. A hard blow for Ange Postecoglou and the Spurs who will not see Bentancur again before the end of the year…
