The electric Renault 5 lowers its price, but goes less far

As promised, the one that attracted the crowds during the last World Cup is moving upmarket. Until now available with a 52 kWh accumulator (412 km range), it now receives the support of a smaller 40 kWh battery of capacity and a less powerful engine of 120 hp instead of 150 hp.

Unsurprisingly, she can’t travel that far on a “full”. You must therefore accept 100 km less between two recharges. But this has an impact on the price since this Renault 5 Autonomie Urbaine is sold €3,500 less with equivalent finish. In addition, Renault is launching a new finish, evolution, allowing prices to be further lowered. The 5 starts today at €27,990 excluding bonus.

This finish loses the reversing camera, the route planner, and the digital instrumentation sees its size reduced to 7 inches instead of 10. On the other hand, it retains the 10-inch OpenR system or even the heat pump. Furthermore, Renault does not indicate the charging times, although the powers differ. If it still accepts 11 kW of alternating current, you have to be satisfied with 80 kW in direct current.

The Peugeot E-208, priced from €32,080, is thus beaten despite a better range of 363 km. Priced from €30,400, the Fiat 500e cannot compare with its range of only 190 km.

Les Five and Roland-Garros in 2025

The range of the small Renault will be completed next year by the version Five (95 hp and 40 kWh) whose base price will be below €25,000 bonus not deducted. Note that this R5 will be deprived of fast charging, which will prohibit long journeys… On the other hand, the Roland-Garros will top the range.
