A miracle. A house in Saint-Jean-de-Sauves (near Loudun) was blown up and partly destroyed in a fire following an accidental explosion this Wednesday morning, November 13, 2024. Its tenant, a 65-year-old woman, came out almost unscathed.
An auxiliary heater with an exploding gas bottle
The events took place shortly before 10:30 a.m. when the tenant of a house, located rue de la Pagerie, decided to turn on her auxiliary heating. A gas stove.
For an as yet undetermined reason, the stove connected to a gas bottle literally exploded before causing a fire in the home. The accommodation, uninhabitable, was devastated, with major damage to the various rooms and to the roof.
Miraculously, the tenant is not injured. “She was able to get out in time. She lives alone in the house and was receiving her daughter at the time of the incident. Both people were taken to hospital for follow-up examinations.explains the gendarmerie, who intervened at the scene of this domestic explosion, with the firefighters.
Dysfunction and rehousing
An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of this impressive explosion which led to the fire in the home.
Contacted, the mayor of Saint-Jean-de-Sauves, Christian Moreau, evokes a “dysfunction” and is looking for a rehousing solution for the sixty-year-old.
