Among the 7 candidates, the outgoing RN deputy Christophe Barthès will face him the media representative of the New Anticapitalist Party. Philippe Poutou parachuted into the 1st constituency of Aude, that of Carcassonne, with the New Popular Front label, arrived this Monday to campaign.

The 2022 duel turned in favor of the RN in 2022. Christophe Barthès was elected with 53.56% of the votes against Sophie Courrière-Calmon, PS-NUPES candidate. That’s 2,251 votes difference. Emmanuel Macron’s party was 3rd with 22%.

This year, there were 9 candidates at the closing of registration lists in the prefecture but this Monday, the LR candidate, Jean-Marc Marin, decided to throw in the towel. Just like Monique Ferré. So there are only 7 left.

The parachute drop of Philippe Poutou

This is the surprise of these anticipated legislative elections in Aude. The candidacy of the NPA Philippe Poutou as representative of the New Popular Front. It has caused some annoyance in this historically socialist land until 2022.

This native of the Paris region, aged 57, and once elected to Bordeaux, therefore arrives in Aude. He was a candidate in the presidential election 3 times for his movement in 2012 (1.15%), 2017 (1.09%) and 2022 (0.76%).

The left alliance has chosen to invest our comrades Philippe Poutou and Pauline Salingue as substitutes in the first constituency of Aude. We look forward to this campaign that we will build with all the activists from the different components of the Popular Front.

From the Insoumis to Place publique, including the Socialist Party, the Ecologists and the French Communist Party, the left-wing movements agreed on a single candidacy in the 577 constituencies.
The NPA’s rallying to the New Popular Front was strongly criticized by the right and the far right, particularly given the positions of this movement on the October 7 massacres in Israel.

The NPA is in fact the target of an investigation for advocating terrorism, after a press release in which it recalled its “support for the Palestinians and the means of struggle that they have chosen to resist”.

The battle of the candidates

On the left, there will not only be Philippe Poutou. Lutte Ouvrière has nominated a candidate, Nicole Gadrat. And many socialists from the town hall of Carcassonne and the agglomeration as well as rural mayors support the unlabeled but radical Aurélien Turchetto.

Idem to the right of the right, the outgoing RN deputy will have a Reconquest competitor, Fabrice Coffinet.

The presidential majority will be represented by Jean-Claude Perez, former PS mayor of Carcassonne and ex-deputy for this 1st constituency for 20 years between 1997 and 2017.

No LR, Jean-Claude Marin finally decided to withdraw his candidacy. He argues “logistical problems”, the electoral materials necessary for his candidacy could not have been ready in time according to him. Also withdrawn from Monique Ferré, for the same reasons.

It is also necessary to take into account Laure-Nelly Amalric, candidate Eco-citizen gathering.
