“Quite a few discounts, but often old collections”: Summer sales in Toulouse, a tradition shunned by customers?

The summer sales began this Wednesday, June 26 in Toulouse, attracting many customers despite mixed satisfaction with the often outdated collections.

This Wednesday, June 26, marked the start of the summer sales, an event traditionally eagerly awaited by consumers and merchants. But in Toulouse, the question arises: are the sales still worth it? Between the attractive discounts and the outdated collections, the opinions of Toulouse residents are divided.

Sianne, a schoolgirl who sacrificed her free time to browse the shelves, shares her experience with a touch of disappointment. “I managed to find a little basic top, but it’s the first time in a long time that I’ve managed to find something. There are quite a few discounts on lots of products, but they’re often old collections ,” she confides. His feelings are shared by many young people, frustrated by an offer that is often out of date.

“I don’t flash on anything”

Caroline, a mother, has also turned her back on traditional sales. “I’m more of a fan of private sales. I don’t go to the sales anymore because I don’t really like anything. On the other hand, there are some good deals to know about. As a mother, I really like going to Claire’s. For the kids, it’s bliss,” she explains. Caroline represents a clientele that is increasingly attracted by exclusive discounts throughout the year, rather than seasonal sales.

“Since this morning it hasn’t stopped”

The jewelry sector is no exception to this trend. Despite posters promising reductions of up to 60%, the impact remains limited. “We do a lot of private sales, so there is no real difference between yesterday and today. Our customers are quite loyal all year round,” admits a local jeweler. This loyalty throughout the year reduces the appeal of sales for customers accustomed to regular discounts.

However, despite the criticism, the Toulouse residents were there for this first day of sales. “Since this morning, it hasn’t stopped. People parade. They don’t all have big baskets, but everyone leaves with a little top or something like that. It’s really fire,” testifies Samira, saleswoman at Primark, busy folding a mountain of clothes. The crowds remain strong, and so does the pleasure, but satisfaction is not always there…
