It’s a very sad story that happened to Roberto Cazzaniga. As reported in the Italian version of the Vanity Fair newspaper, the renowned volleyball player was the victim of a romantic scam. For thirteen years, he actually thought he was having the perfect love affair with a model named Maya Mancini but in fact he was nothing. Behind this nickname were actually two women, Valeria Satta and Manuela Passero, who created the character from scratch. According to information from the media, the two women, one living in Monza, in the Milan region, and the other in Cagliari, managed to make the 44-year-old man believe that he was maintaining a long-distance relationship with a Brazilian top model. To obviously make it all real, Valeria Satta did the voice. It was she who spent her time on the phone with the athlete with the complicity of Manuela Passeron, close friend of Roberto Cazzaniga. And to sell him the dream, she usurped the identity of the real model Alessandra Ambrosio, angel of the Victoria’s Secret brand.

More than 500,000 euros stolen

Throughout the years of the relationship, the two accused therefore took advantage of the situation to extract hundreds of thousands of euros from the volleyball player. Between 2008 and 2021, he notably sent them more than 1,400 transfers in the form of postal orders or bank transfers.
