Biathlon: the secrets of Violette Bony
In March 2022, the biathlete Violette Bony formed, particularly with Lola Gilbert-Jeanselme et Anaëlle Bondouxthe French women’s team selected for the Vuokatti European Youth Olympic Festival (Finland). In the Kainuu region, the Annecy Dragons member, without an individual medal, had the chance to participate in the mixed relay.
In the company of Bressaude Amandine Menginfrom Dauphinois Lou Thiévent and Montblanais Gaëtan Paturelshe had won the title outright. We then thought we would quickly see again Violette Bonysecond in the U19 French Cup that winter, in the top places in national competitions. All to win other international selections.
Unfortunately, the last two years, his first in the U22 category, from Haut-Savoyarde were not the easiest.
“After the EYOF, I also passed the baccalaureate and, unconsciously, I perhaps released the pressure and had to go through more difficult times”she tells Nordic Magazine. It must be said that, the day after his baccalaureate exams, by resuming training on a running race, Violette Bony sprained her ankle.
A concussion that happens at the worst time
Once this hard blow has been taken care of, it was a fall on roller skis which disrupted the preparation for the Montblanaise. “It was in September, I was very tired from my summer, I had to do 30-second intervals in La Féclazexplains the one who had entered the Haute-Savoie Nordic Team the preceding spring. I fell on the tarmac, hitting my head. »
Victim of a concussion, Violette Bony therefore had to stop his training for a short month. Missing the different Summer Tour races, she was going through a difficult seasonfinishing the winter in fifteenth place in the Coupe de France. Rebelotte last year, with a French Cup finished in ninth place, notably after two podiumshis first among the U22s.
“I tried to come back and get back in shape by looking for what suited me in terms of training”she reveals. The only female member of the Haute-Savoie Nordic Team, Violette Bonywho spent three years alongside Jeanne Richard during his committee years, wanted a change of scenery to renew himself.
An idyllic summer with Team ENB
This is how she jumped at the opportunity to create the Team Elite Nordique Bessans (Team ENB)based in Bessans (Savoie) with Camille Coupe et Ambroise Meunier as teammates and Emilien Character as a coach.
“It was a really good opportunity.she admits. I integrated well into this team and this new group, especially since I joined athletes that I already knew. » Throughout the preparation, It was therefore in Bessans that the troop gathered, well installed in their coach’s apartments. Moreover, it is there, with a long one-month training course, that they complete their training, with the selections for the days to come at the end.
“I’m going to give everything I have and we’ll see how it goes. For several months, I’ve felt like I’m on the right track”rejoices Violette Bonycurrently in the third year of DUT marketing techniques at the IUT of Annecy.
Still juniors this winter, Violette Bony will not play most of her winter in the Bessanian races opening the winter : she can actually pretend to go to the Junior Cup in December after the French Cup scheduled for… Bessans in three weeks.
A biathlon enthusiast
Only, the Annécienne doesn’t want to stress out with all this. “I let myself be carried away a little and, first of all, I give my all in training! I’m not someone who is going to say that I absolutely have to qualify for a certain event. Of course, it’s a dream, but I don’t put too much pressure on it, otherwise it’s a disaster.she says. In my head, of course I have the Junior Cup, the Junior Worlds and, perhaps, the IBU Cup, but I don’t put pressure on myself. »
Biathlon lover, Violette Bony is driven by her passion. “I also love training in nature. This new team, where there is a good atmosphere and a lot of support with a great coach there for us, also pushes me to persevere like my family and my friends, who are behind me. I also always want to go and train.admits the one who recently started playing the ukulele after a gift from her mother. I hate being at home with nothing to do, it’s like an addiction to go out and train or go for a walk! »
