The CEO of the National Oil Office, Hamed Dali, announced this Monday during a press conference that olive production for the 2024 season is estimated at 1.7 million tonnes, with a forecast of 340,000 tonnes of olive oil, of which 60% comes from irrigated crops and 40% from rainfed crops.
In a context of a strong harvest, the price of a liter of olive oil recorded a marked drop, going from 18 dinars at the start of the harvest season to 14 dinars currently.
On the global market, prices follow this trend, with a decrease from 7.5 euros on September 16 to 5.92 euros on November 4. Hamed Dali confirmed that this decline should continue in the coming weeks.
