A 17-year-old teenager who was riding a scooter was seriously injured in an accident in Bezons (Val-d’Oise). According to The Gazette du Val-d’Oise he collided with a car on Sunday June 16, 2024 in the early afternoon.

Circumstances to be determined

The firefighters and the Samu were dispatched to the scene of the accident, rue Gabriel-Péri. The victim was medically treated on site before being taken to Argenteuil hospital in an absolute emergency.

For the moment, we do not know the circumstances of the facts. The driver of the car and his passenger were interviewed to shed light on this dramatic collision.

Scooter injuries as serious as motorcycle injuries

Serious scooter accidents have increased in recent years. In May 2024, in Montpellier (Hérault), two men aged 40 and 55 died in two separate accidents.

According to a study carried out by the anesthesia-intensive care services of Paris hospitals, and published in July 2023, accidents involving electric scooters can cause trauma as severe as those involving motorcycles or bicycles. The study also reveals that scooter drivers are twice as likely to suffer head injuries due to not wearing a helmet.
