The standoff between the CFDT and the CABS (Bay of Somme agglomeration community) continues at Abbeville (Sum) with a strike movement.

The CFDT, supported by the Abbeville inter-union, is asking the community to reverse its decision concerning the elimination of the increase in morning hours worked and weekend shifts at the recycling center.

CABS initially refused, explaining that these measures were illegal.

The consequence is directly financial for the agents with a shortfall on the pay slip of 150 to 300 euros per month.

Household waste collection on Abbeville and the CABS territory was therefore not assured on Friday June 28. THE recycling centers of Abbeville and Saint-Valery-sur-Somme are blocked.

A strike that will continue until Monday, July 1st, when the garbage will still not be collected.

Even though the city of Abbeville has called on residents and shopkeepers to bring in their trash, several bags are starting to accumulate on the sidewalks.

Passage of the Olympic flame on July 4

A new meeting with CABS President Pascal Demarthe and the CFDT is scheduled for Monday, July 1st in the afternoon. The union intends to put pressure on the community with the passage of the Olympic flame on Thursday, July 4th. Garbage cans littering the sidewalks during this sporting and festive event would be a mess.
