Tehran to exclude Israel from the UN
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei “strongly condemned the brutal attack carried out today by the Zionist regime against a residential building in Damascus.” He also called for action against Israel, demanding “an arms embargo” and its “exclusion from the United Nations.”
Since the start of Syria’s civil war in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes on the neighboring country targeting the Syrian army and Tehran-backed groups, including Hezbollah, deployed in support of Syrian government forces.
The frequency of these strikes has increased since Israel entered into open war against Hezbollah in Lebanon on September 23. Israel, which rarely comments on such strikes, recently targeted crossings between Syria and Lebanon, accusing Hezbollah of using them to smuggle weapons from Syria.
