Serge Klarsfeld Announces That He Will Vote for National Rally in the Event of a Duel With the Left

In a statement Saturday evening on LCI, Serge Klarsfeld, famous lawyer and historian known for his commitment to tracking down former Nazis and defending the memory of the Shoah, announced that he would vote for the National Rally in the next elections in the event of duel with the New Popular Front.

“Today, the National Rally supports the Jews, supports the State of Israel and it is completely normal, given the activity that I have had over the last 60 years, that between an anti-Semitic party and a party pro-Jewish, I vote for a pro-Jewish party,” he declared.

Asked about the words of Chief Rabbi Korsia who warned against supporting Israel “for the wrong reasons”, Serge Klarsfeld replied: “The only victory over anti-Semitism, which is a disease, is that extreme parties right in Europe have renounced anti-Semitism and understood that the Jews are a factor of progress, of development, unlike the 1930s when these parties considered the Jews as harmful. Today, after a long evolution, they consider them as positive. .”

These statements mark a radical change of position for Serge Klarsfeld, who had strongly opposed the National Front in the past, calling it a “xenophobic and anti-Semitic” party. He notably called for blocking Marine Le Pen in the second round of the 2017 presidential election.
