On Saturday June 15, the Australian animated work highly appreciated for its specific humor, “Memoir of a Snail”, was crowned at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. This film, directed by Adam Elliot, received its world premiere and was awarded the Feature Film Crystal as a bonus. It was within the framework of this prestigious annual meeting in Haute-Savoie that this victory was celebrated.

“Memoirs of a Snail” is made in stop-motion, just like certain famous films of the same genre, like “The Nightmare Before Christmas” or “The Funeral Wedding » by Tim Burton. The story tells the daily life of a young Australian woman passionate about snails, whose mother is unknown, her paralyzed father has just died and her brother has been taken in by another family.

At the festival, the audience prize and the jury prize for a feature film were awarded to the Franco-Belgian-Latvian film, “Flow” by Gints Zilbalodis, having made its first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in the “Un certain regard” category. . The film tells the story of a cat on an adventure on a drowned planet Earth.

As for short films, “A Guitar in the Sea” by Sophie Roze was doubly rewarded, with the Cristal and the audience prize in the TV film category.
