Miscellaneous facts – Justice – “I thought I wasn’t going to live much longer”: in Portland, 28 people remain stuck upside down on a merry-go-round

It’s an ultra-high thrill ride. Friday, in an amusement park in Portland in the United States, tragedy was narrowly avoided. As reported by several American media including the Sky News website, 28 people remained stuck at the top of a ride, the “atmosFEAR” (which is aptly named because “fear” means “fear”) for nearly 30 minutes.

A technical breakdown caused the attraction to suddenly stop. Portland park officials then immediately notified emergency services. If they managed to bring all the visitors to safety by manually lowering the seats, a rescue using ropes was initially planned.

We were just panicking. People were crying. I’m not even a believer but I said a prayer. I thought I wasn’t going to live much longer“, explains a user stuck on the attraction at the microphone of KTVZ.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported and only one person was treated in a hospital due to his “special medical condition“.

Despite a huge scare, all’s well that ends well. Park officials expressed their “deepest gratitude to the first responders and our staff for taking quick action leading to a positive outcome.” A technical study is underway to determine the causes of this failure and the attraction is closed to the public until further notice.
