Urgent projects will be implemented to benefit areas exposed to water stress across the country.

The Minister of Hydraulics, Taha Derbal, announced, Friday from Tiaret, the allocation of more than 27 billion dinars to implement urgent projects for the benefit of areas exposed to water stress across the country, in application of the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Derbal explained, in a statement to the media during his supervision of the commissioning of the project to supply the city of Tiaret with water from the Chott Chergui basin, that “the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune , approved an urgent program for the benefit of all areas exposed to water shortage, including many municipalities and wilayas, with a financial envelope exceeding 27 billion dinars”, a sum which reflects the interest granted by the president of the Republic, “which has placed the citizen at the top of its priorities, particularly with regard to the water resources sector”.

Completion times do not exceed four months

The minister stressed that “the walis of the Republic received correspondence on Thursday to contact water resource managers in order to immediately begin the implementation of the projects submitted, which include wells, storage facilities and “others to mobilize water resources, provided that the completion times do not exceed four months”, affirming in this regard that what was implemented in Tiaret constitutes an example to follow for other regions of the country .

During this visit, Mr. Derbal supervised the commissioning of this vital project, which will supply, starting Saturday, 10,000 cubic meters, bringing the total quantity available to 34,000 cubic meters, pending the supply of the head- place of the wilaya and 10 other communes from the water basin of Djermaya, in the commune of Zemala Emir Abdelkader de Prince, in the delegated wilaya of Ksar Chellala, which will also provide 34,000 cubic meters of water per day and will thus guarantee water daily to the inhabitants of the municipalities concerned.
