It’s a conviction that Mehdi’s family thought they would never obtain. A court handed down a 20-year prison sentence to Hassam Benhamza, a French-Moroccan, for the murder of Mehdi. It was in 2011 in the Belleville district of Paris. 20 years in prison not handed down by French justice but by Moroccan justice. The French investigators did not allow themselves to be fooled at the end of a legal standoff, they obtained a trial. Philippe Gaudin and Justine Chevalier receive Maître Philippe Ohayon, lawyer specializing in extradition cases.
