CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET: A young man dies in a road accident

During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, a car left the road and ended up on its roof. Four victims aged 20 to 26 were treated by emergency services who are also looking for a fifth person.

This Thursday, June 13, 2024, the Côte-d’Or Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 21) intervened around 2 a.m. for a road accident involving a single vehicle on the RD 974 bis, near Chassagne-Montrachet, south of Beaune.

Twelve firefighters were dispatched to the scene, coming from the centers of Beaune, Meursault, Nolay and even Chagny, in Saône-et-Loire, notably mobilizing four ambulances and a road emergency pump van.

Agents from SDIS 21 and SDIS 71 discovered a car that had rolled over after leaving the road and hitting a tree. They were joined by an SMUR crew and gendarmes.

Initially, emergency services counted four victims aged between 20 and 26 years old. A 20-year-old man died and three other people were transported in emergency to the Beaune hospital center.

The investigations carried out led to the assumption of the presence of a fifth person in the vehicle, absent at the scene of the accident, and therefore to initiating searches with a drone and a dog team to find her.
