One person was killed et five others injuredtwo of which seriouslyduring shooting during a wedding in Thionville, in Moselle, during the night from Saturday to Sunday.

The vital prognosis is engaged for two victims, one of whom is in a state of ” desperate“, police sources told theAFP. The perpetrators of the shooting, several armed and hooded men, have fled.

Guests go out to smoke and get shot

The events occurred at the Eden Palace, a reception hall specializing in weddings, where there was a hundred people.

“It was during a wedding. A group of individuals, at around a quarter past one in the morning, went out to smoke in front of the room and then three heavily armed guys came and opened fire several dozen times in their direction,” a police source reported.

Another source said the shooting took place in the airlock leading to the room.

A settling of scores against a backdrop of drug trafficking?

The attackers arrived in a 4X4, “probably BMW”, according to one of the sources. Investigators still do not know the origin of the vehicle, particularly if it came fromGermany or Luxembourgwhose borders are about fifteen kilometers away.

“Very clearly, we are moving towards a settlement of scores against a background of drug trafficking“, said a source. “The wedding was not targeted as such, it was people who were at the wedding.”

The guests are from a neighboring town et belong to the Turkish communityaccording to one of the police sources.

An investigation opened

On site Sunday morning, reporters from theAFP were able to see experts from the scientific police busy taking samples from a car, which was then taken away by a tow truck. At least three bullet holes are visible on a glass door giving access to the vast reception room.

On its website, the Eden Palace claims to be able to accommodate 600 seats and 800 guests. The establishment is located in a commercial area outside Thionvilleaway from homes.

The investigation was entrusted to the Metz judicial police.
