Updated – If a vehicle hit a gas box, it was after leaving the road, confirmed the police commissioner. The driver missed the turn and, once the damage was noted – the gas leak – he left the scene before the firefighters and police arrived. An investigation is open.
With the security perimeter, the fire brigade vehicles, the national police and that of GRDF, the only information was, “it’s a big gas leak”.
The alert was given at 1:20 a.m. last night. Firefighters were called to the Sainte-Elisabeth craft zone in Montceau-les-Mines near a furniture store.
A little over an hour later, the GRDF agent proceeded to block the gas. All danger was over.
In fact, it was a vehicle that hit a gas box and caused the leak. Apparently the box was hit from the back of the car. When police arrived on scene, the driver was missing. Did he do a reverse maneuver or did he miss the turn?
It was impossible to approach the scene of the accident and the police gave no information.
