It’s a tragedy accident work. This Thursday June 13, 2024, a worker operating on the heritage site on the Saint-Claude cathedral lost his life after his lunch break at the start of the afternoon. This man collapsed to the ground. The emergency services who arrived on the scene could only note his death.

The construction site of the cathedral of Saint-Claude struck by a dramatic accident. This Thursday, June 13, shortly before 2 p.m.a worker finishes his lunch break in the parking lot between the cathedral and the Abbey museum.

Medical analysis and open investigation

But as he prepares to return to work, he takes a few steps, then collapses. This worker seems to be the victim of faintness and does not get up.

Arriving quickly on site, the SAMU doctors from Louis Jaillon Hospital Center de Saint-Claude could only note the death.

Of the medical analysis will be carried out to better understand the circumstances of this death. A investigation of the gendarmerie is also open to clarify the circumstances of this tragedy. But investigators are currently ruling out the intervention of an outside person and favoring the possibility of natural death.
