There was an increase in road deaths in Centre-du-Québec in 2023, compared to the average of recent years and a decrease in Mauricie. This is what the most recent road report from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) reveals.
Sixteen deaths were recorded last year on the roads of Mauricie, which represents a drop of 11% compared to the average observed between 2018 and 2022. In addition, 57 people were seriously injured, which is similar to the previous years.

In Centre-du-Québec, there were 25 deaths in 2023, an increase of 14.7% compared to the average of the last five years. As for serious injuries, there were 65, an increase of 18.6%.

Around 1,000 people in Mauricie and as many in Centre-du-Québec suffered bodily injury in a road collision in 2023.

Across the province, the number of fatal injuries associated with road accidents decreased by 1.2% while there were 20% fewer serious injuries.
