Agadir – National coach Walid Regragui assured, Monday in Agadir, that the objective of the Atlas Lions is to remain at the top of Group E of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and get closer to qualification.

“We must win the match against Congo Brazzaville and finish first in our group because the main objective is to qualify for the next World Cup,” he said in a press conference before the Morocco-Congo Brazzaville match, scheduled for Tuesday. at the Grand Stade d’Agadir for the 4th day (group E).

“We are determined to increase our offensive intensity to have the best possible match,” said the national coach.

He estimated, in this sense, that “our objective remains the three points of victory and we will try to combine the quality of play and the result especially as we play in front of our public and in ideal conditions”.

“It is important to find the best balance so that the best elements play, but it also takes a little more time to find the best offensive animation,” he said, noting that “we have a bench of “very high quality”.

“The most important thing is the balance of the group and if I believe that a player is capable of providing technical quality I integrate him without hesitation,” he added.

Concerning Eliesse Ben Seghir, Regragui noted that the AS Monaco player “gives us more balance in attack. With him we have more options at the offensive level”.

Regarding the midfield, he explained that “Osama El Azzouzi is a player of the future for the national team and with the presence of Sofiane Amrabet, we will have an athletic intensity which will certainly make the difference”.

“We have a group that wants to win and progress together,” remarked the national coach, believing that against Congo Brazzaville, the players must be concentrated to secure the three points for victory.

According to Regragui, “it is always difficult to play against a team with a low block, but it is up to us to find the automatisms and offensive animation to open spaces and score goals to win”.

The Atlas Lions won last Friday in Agadir against Zambia (2-1) on the 3rd day of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Morocco leads Group E with 6 points, ahead of Zambia, Niger and Tanzania who have 3 points.
