A dryer fire on a silo declared himself near on November 6, 2024 shortly after noon.

No casualties have been reported, and the intervention is still in progress with an important system put in place by the departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS72).

A 60-ton corn silo on fire

HAS Saint-Ouen-en-Belinat a place called Le Pavillon located on the RD 139BIS which connects Saint-Biez-en-Belin to Laigné-en-Belin, the silo of the Agrial cooperative measures 30 meters and contained 60 tonnes of corn, reports SDIS72.

“When we arrived, the farmer had emptied 40 of the 60 tonnes of cereals. We attacked the fire from the top of the silo. Currently we continue to drain the dryer and we proceed to extinguish the hot spots in the alveoli which are inaccessible to us with a mousse special,” said the commander of rescue operations, Julien Bailly of SDIS72.

Surveillance of the site for the night is anticipated

50 firefighters are on site, with 14 vehicles coming from the Le Mans Degré and Sud emergency centers, Écommoy, The Arrow, Parigné-le-PôlinTeloché and Yvré-le-Pôlin.

The police are on the scene as well as the mayor of Saint-Ouen-en-BelinFlorence February. ” She takes care of the supplies firefighters,” explains Julien Bailly.

An LDV 500 water hose was deployed to control the fire.


The commander of relief operations anticipates a possible surveillance from the site all night by firefighters.
