Already convicted of acts of violence, the father appeared at the Nîmes criminal court.
A dispute that took on disproportionate proportions. This is what emerges from this case judged this Tuesday, November 5 at the Nîmes criminal court. On May 6, a 16-year-old girl, who lives with her parents in Beaucaire, allegedly argued with her father over a disagreement over her professional orientation. Initially, she wanted to study to become a veterinarian.
But her choice ultimately fell on a career as a caregiver. A change of profession that his father would not have accepted. He then allegedly hit him several times and threatened to kill him. Facts that the latter disputes.
“It's just words”
“It’s true that I grabbed her by the arm and I told her that as long as she was with mom and dad, she wasn’t the one who decided.”he declares in court. An altercation to which the young girl responded with a kick to the chest. And then things would have gotten worse. “He punched me in the face and thighdescribes the young victim. And he told me that if I did it again, he would smash me.”. Words that the defendant tries to qualify: “It's just words”. “Except that words have meaning sir”retorts the prosecutor Jean-Luc Vasserot.
Especially since the man would not be experiencing his first episode of violence. With fourteen mentions on his record, he has already been convicted of violence against his ascendant and his ex-wife. “And he told me that when I turned 18, he would beat me up because the police would no longer be behind me to protect me”adds his daughter, who has since filed a second complaint against her father. He received a ten-month suspended prison sentence, including twenty-four months of probation, with a ban on approaching his daughter and an obligation to provide care.
