Peugeot lowers the price of the electric E-308!

Peugeot is launching an entry-level series to try to revive the momentum of its 100% electric E-308.

It’s hard to find any major flaws in the Peugeot E-308, apart from its price, of course. Since its launch, the electric lioness has established itself as an excellent car, but its prices prevent it from competing on equal terms with Chinese productions from MG or BYD and of course the Tesla giants. Peugeot is aware of this and announced an entry-level finish in May. Called the E-Style, it features the 156 hp powertrain and a 54 kWh battery. Is this enough to go after MGs at less than 30,000 euros and Teslas at less than 40,000 euros?

The price will of course be the key to the success of this version. The E-308 E Style is listed in the catalog at 41,230 euros, or 37,230 euros after the ecological bonus of 4,000 euros. It comes under the Allure and GT finishes, which are respectively 1,360 and 3,640 euros more expensive. It’s a nice effort, but there’s not that little wow effect that a version at less than 35,000 euros could have caused. There is a LOA offer, rental with option to purchase, at 249 euros per month over 37 months for 10,000 km per year, but to do this you have to benefit from the conversion bonus and pay an initial rental of 6,650 euros. Totally dissuasive in our opinion when MG offers its entire range in monthly payments without a deposit for almost equivalent prices.

Too bad because this E-Style lacks nothing with its beautiful 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone air conditioning, heat pump, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, two beautiful 10-inch screens and LEDs at both ends. The 450 km of autonomy and the possibility of going from 20% to 80% charge in 30 minutes from a 100 kW terminal put it in the norm, no worse, no better. That’s a bit what sums up this model: Good, but not great.

With the Peugeot Allure Care 8-year/160,000 km in-house warranty, this E-308 remains a reasonable, intelligent purchase with no nasty surprises. Quite the contrary, because the car is a joy on a daily basis. But to go hunting outside the lion’s loyal clientele, you’ll have to make a little more effort on the price.
