Audrey Tautou is a face and a talent that French cinema lacks. Absent from the screens since 2018 in France – her very last film of 2019 having remained unreleased in theaters – the actress has moved away from the sets. The reason ? Audrey Tautou is not just about cinema, and she had other projects:

What are his plans?

“I’m drawing illustrations for a children’s book that I wrote”she confided in October 2023 to Figaro. “I also take photos, which I will put together in a book. Here you go: photography, writing and drawing. […]I can’t imagine leaving my house at 6 a.m. and returning at 9 p.m., five days a week for three months. Depriving me of my child for a shoot is a no!”

She adds, at Feminine : “As I am self-taught, everything takes me a lot of time. I embarked on all these adventures without really realizing how difficult it would be. Life is an adventure, you have to dare to give yourself the freedom to be happy, to do what we like when we have luxury I have it.

His latest films to date

If she lent her voice in 2023 to Nina’s mother and the secret of the hedgehog, an animated film by Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol, her last “live” filming was an American film, The Jesus Rolls, a remake of Waltzes AND spin-off of The Big Lebowski. Directed by John Turturro, this feature film was not released in our French cinemas.

Her last appearance in theaters was in the comedy En Liberté!, released on October 31, 2018. She starred alongside Pio Marmaï and Adèle Haenel in front of Pierre Salvadori’s camera, whom she returned to after True Lies (2010) and Hors price (2006).

A first role of hope

After debuting on the small screen in Les Cordier or Julie Lescaut, Audrey Tautou found her first role in the cinema in Vénus Beauté (Institut) by Tonie Marshall, which earned her the César for Best Young Actress.

From then on, she was much in demand but it was truly Le Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain which, through its public and critical success, earned her recognition and fame.
