The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) is investigating an arson attack in a business on Wellington Street in the Verdun borough of Montreal.
Early around 4 a.m., police received a call for suspects seen fleeing the scene of a fire at a licensed establishment on Wellington Street near Hickson Street, the police said. SPVM.
Arriving on scene, the police noticed that the front door of a bar had been broken.
They also found a can of gasoline not far from the scene.
According to the first information obtained by agents of the SPVMsuspects allegedly smashed the window of the business before setting it on fire.
They reportedly fled on foot before the police arrived.
The fire extinguished itself. There was no one inside and the damage was minor, specifies the SPVM.
The scene was secured and investigators from the Arson Unit were called in to investigate.
