A new business opened its doors last week in the old Vieille Maison near the Martin patisserie, place des Otages. It's a grocery store, except that this grocery store is spelled éPYcerie. P for Pierre Lamy and Y for Yudith Nimsgern, the two managers of the business.
“We come with our container and we help ourselves”
For more than a year, Yudith and Pierre have been refining this project to “change your life”. In this spacious 100 m2 premises you can find traditional grocery products, herbs, seeds, breakfast cereals, organic fruits and vegetables, hygiene products, cosmetics, detergents, and all this in bulk. “We come with our container and we help ourselves” explains Pierre Lamy (for customers who come empty-handed, the business sells containers). “We favor fair trade, for example coffee that comes from Mexico or Guatemala, and we source as much as possible from Brittany for a very large part of our products,” continues Yudith Nimsgern.
In the “From groceries to bulk” store you can also find wine and local beers. In this bulk and self-service sales area, you contribute to the fight against waste and you can even make your own spread on the spot thanks to a special machine which sits in the entrance.
If self-service is the dominant feature of the place, Yudith and Pierre will always be there to assist the consumer in their purchasing process.
