A young woman asked her sister to watch her daughter for the afternoon, since she had to go to work. She would never have doubted that these few hours of babysitting would have earned her a bill of $72.
In a video posted to TikTok, Jessica Pares explained that she received a text from her sister with a long list of things she should “repay” her for.
The sister demands money since the little girl allegedly “used” electricity while playing video games ($7). She also asks him to pay for the gas consumed to get to the park ($3.75), the viewing of a film on Netflix ($4.50), a meal at the Olive Garden restaurant ($19) and cleaning costs, because her daughter caused an accident in bed ($10).
She even demanded payment for the five times the child went to the toilet and for washing her hands.
Here are other fees Jessica calls “ridiculous”:
- A bag of chips: $1
- A glass of milk: $1
- A glass of apple juice: $2.50
- Using wifi for playing on an iPad: $10
- Paint to make a drawing: $1.25
She ends her message by specifying that she had to pay before April 30, 2024, in order to avoid interest rates.
Her sister justified herself in another video: “times are tough and I think it’s fair to charge for things that [sa nièce] used during his stay.”
“How ridiculous is this girl?” Jessica said in the video, furious.
According to his sister, who is a mother of three children, these costs would be reasonable. “If she had taken my niece to daycare, she would have had to pay at least $150 just to keep her,” she said.
She added that she is mentally exhausted and that it was really “stressful” having so many children in her care.

Thousands of people reacted in the comments section of Jessica’s video. “I’m on your side!” Who charges for a favor?” said one individual.
“It’s crazy!” said another. “It’s time to have a new sister.”
For others, some requests were not too demanding.
“I understand the cleaning for the bed and the Olive Garden, the rest is absolutely insane,” one comment read.
