A first day of reflection in housing in Kamouraska will be held on Thursday, September 12 at the Bombardier Center in La Pocatière. Nearly a hundred speakers from the municipal, community and political sectors are expected.

This day will serve to draw up a portrait of the challenges raised following the multiple meetings held by the housing project manager at the MRC, Nancy Fortin. Also, the results of the survey carried out in May among the Kamouraskois population, who responded in large numbers, will be presented. By invitation, the event also aims to allow partners to actively contribute to the development of a common housing policy which will shape the future of the region.

It is also planned to welcome Adam Mongrain, housing director, from the Vivre en ville organization, a recognized expert in the field. He will deliver a conference under the theme Understand and act: common places in homes. Among other things, it will be about the housing crisis, combining residential supply with the needs of the population, and some examples of the context of residential affordability.

A proposed vision and policy directions will be presented. It will be followed by reflection workshops to determine the actions to be carried out collectively. “We are convinced that this collaboration between the various stakeholders in the region will make it possible to implement a housing policy with concrete and sustainable actions to help our community face current challenges and thus continue the development of the Kamouraska region. », Mentions the elected prefect, Sylvain Roy.

The Kamouraska regional housing policy will reflect the territory, and it should be submitted to the MRC council at the beginning of 2025 for its official adoption. The actions of the housing project manager of the MRC of Kamouraska, Nancy Fortin, are made possible thanks to the financial participation of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing as part of the Support for regional outreach component of the Regions and Housing Fund. rurality as well as the wind energy fund of the MRC of Kamouraska.
