This Monday, November 4, 2024, numerous demonstrators dressed in keffiyehs and Palestinian flags entered the premises of the FFF, boulevard de Grenelle in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. There were around forty from the “Stop Genocide” association to demonstrate against the holding of the next football match between France and Israel on November 14 at the Stade de France. A match within the framework of the recent maligned competition that is the Nations League.
These activists entered with numerous signs “Free Palestine”, “Gaza, stop genocide!”, “No to the France-Israel match at the Stade de France”, “Genocide Champions League”, thus denouncing the fierce struggle of Hebrew state against Hamas in the Gaza Strip for over a year now.
The latter took their place at the entrance to the FFF headquarters. Two selections which already faced each other on October 10, in Budapest, Hungary, with a 4-1 success for the Blues. The activists stayed for about an hour. Around 5 p.m., they were surrounded by around thirty CRS. They were then evacuated in a peaceful atmosphere. The principle of a meeting of two of their delegates with a leader of the FFF on Tuesday around 6 p.m. was approved.
A confrontation placed at high risk
On November 1st, with our colleagues from BFMTVBruno Retailleau declared that in order to avoid incidents an adaptation of the security system is not completely excluded, with also the idea of a spectator gauge. But, unlike Belgium, which opted to relocate its match against Israel to Debrecen (Hungary), France does not intend to give up on the Stade de France “for a question of principle”according to the Prime Minister.
The prefect of the Paris police, Laurent Nuñez, specified on October 17 that the meeting was classified as “high risk” and will be supervised by “an extremely reinforced security system outside and inside” from the grounds of the Stade de France.
