A fatal accident occurred this Friday morning at the corner of rue des Acacias and rue Caroline. Shortly before 7 a.m., a cyclist born in 1965 was hit by a truck. He died at the scene despite the intervention of emergency services.

The heavy goods vehicle was traveling on the Route des Acacias towards the bridge of the same name. At Caroline Street, he turned right and collided with a cyclist. He “was driving on the cycle lane in the same direction”, indicates a press release from the Geneva police.

To understand the circumstances of the tragedy, an investigation was opened by the Road and Accident Brigade (BRA), led by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

This is the fifth fatal accident to occur this year in Geneva.
