As in Lyon, Halloween evening was not easy for the public authorities. On October 31, 2024, urban violence occurred in the Loire.

The night was punctuated by incidents, which heavily mobilized the police and firefighters from the Loire departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS).

Fires of trash cans, cars, fireworks mortars, etc.

“Groups of young people, mainly minors, in Saint-Étienne, Rive-de-Gier, Lorette, Saint-Chamond, Grand-Croix, Andrézieux-Bouthéon, Firminy, La Ricamarie, in Chambon-Feugerolles, set fire to trash cans, various objects and two vehicles,” reports the Loire prefecture.

They damaged street furniture and public facilities and used fireworks mortars. They tried to prevent the intervention forces, police and national gendarmes, police
municipal authorities and firefighters to control these fires.

Three people arrested

Three individuals were arrested. They were fined by the police.

“The prefect of the Loire strongly condemns these actions, which consist of degrading private property and public property, the property of everyone, including the perpetrators of these acts, and of attacking the security and emergency forces, who have a duty to protect people and property. »
